Whiplash cases, so often defined as soft tissue injuries,
seem to be getting more difficult to settle, as well as defend each
year. Insurance companies are rejecting legitimate claims for injuries
sustained in auto accidents. This atmosphere is making your work
harder to get your clients and our patients the care that they need.
What you may not know is that the scientific literature includes
a tremendous number of published studies that show how injury can
occur in low speed collisions. Please click on What is Whiplash to view an important slide demonstration of what happens
in a rear-end collision and its Bibliography.
One key element to a patient's case management is to refer patients
to the appropriate medical professional whenever necessary. We recognize
the need to refer patients to the appropriate specialists, such
as neurologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists,
and physical therapists. We also refer patients for MRI studies
whenever needed and their progress is monitored regularly.
While our goal is to provide patients with the highest quality
care, we also recognize the importance of delivering timely and
precise reports and records of treatment to the patients' legal
counsel.
Another very important note: Drs. Jerome and Blumenfeld have
performed hundreds of independent chiropractic examinations for various insurance companies over the past 24 years. Based
upon having examined thousands of patients and having attended countless
educational seminars, we can detect if a patient is malingering
or exaggerating their symptoms.
Objective patient assessment is an essential aspect of all patient
examinations and records review. We recognize the importance
of a detailed narrative report, including: history of injury, social
history, medical history, chief complaints, physical examination,
radiographic examination, diagnostic impressions, discussion,
prognosis, and future medicals. Attorneys and insurance companies
can rely on objective, timely patient evaluations.
The Bibliography at the end of What
is Whiplash is a list of recent literature supporting whiplash
injuries. If there is any study you wish to acquire, the following
